  • Participate in the Automotive - Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology Certificate apprenticeship with the aim of becoming a Fire and Rescue NSW Heavy Vehicle Motor Mechanic after 4 years
  • Salary: $14.44 per hour (1st Year Apprentice), and tool allowance and superannuation
  • Location: 1 Amarina Avenue, Greenacre

About the role:      

As an Apprentice Fire Vehicle Repairer of FRNSW, you will build skills and develop experience in the following:

  • Interpretation of mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams to undertake service, repairs and maintenance
  • Use of vehicle diagnosis equipment and software
  • Correct use of precision measuring devices
  • Use of hand tools, power tools and various workshop equipment
  • Operation of welding and oxy acetylene cutting equipment
  • Service, repair, maintain and inspect all FRNSW vehicles and appliances
  • Use of the FRNSW Fleet Management Computer System
  • Participate in field service work

About you:

  • You will possess the mechanical aptitude suitable to the repair, service and maintenance of heavy vehicles
  • Ability to complete the training course
  • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Have demonstrated motivation and interest in the trade
  • Eligible for a Record of School Achievement (RoSA) before commencement of apprenticeship
