The Division is comprised of
Field Operations directorate supports operational frontline services. The Metropolitan operations contains 12 Zone Commands located within four Area Commands (Metropolitan North, Metropolitan South, Metropolitan East and Metropolitan West). Regional Operations contains 9 Zones within three regional areas (Regional North, Regional South, Reginal West). Field Operations Business Unit provides expert advice, analysis and supports the Deputy Commissioner Field Operations and Field Operations Assistant Commissioners on strategic management and the HR and financial situation of the Directorate Business Units. We also have administrative staff based throughout the state providing corporate support to our frontline emergency service employees. The Unit leads and manages Division wide projects, initiatives and business systems for the organisation.

The Division assists in setting FRNSW’s strategic direction and leads the development and delivery of emergency management specialised services, capability development, operational communications and training.

The Information Technology Directorate comprises permanent IT professionals united by the common goal of technical excellence, professionalism and concern for community safety.
IT staff know that our primary objective is to help firefighters save lives and property. The understanding of the importance of our role underscores everything we do and provides the sense of urgency and care by which we deliver service and solutions.

People and Culture Directorate consists of Work, Health and Safety, Workforce Relations, Planning & Analytics, Professional Standards, Operational Staffing & Talent Aquisition, and HR & Organisational Development. The Directorate’s many responsibilities include workforce planning, HR advisory service and helpdesk, diversity, culture and inclusion, recruitment, injury management, operational staffing, leadership, professional and career development, professional standards, health promotions, health and wellbeing, rostering and safety which cover all activities for our workforce.

The Finance Directorate sets the strategic direction and leads the planning, design, development and delivery of financial strategies and corporate financial management for Fire and Rescue NSW. This includes all portfolio functions across financial operations and financial strategy covering financial planning and analysis, financial systems, payroll, capital management, financial reporting, accounts payable and receivable, fixed assets, revenue accounting and treasury activities. The Directorate promotes and implements sound financial practices and models the highest standards of financial probity.

The Commissioner's Office is the nerve centre for the organisation, providing support, advice, frameworks and processes to underpin decision-making made inside the organisation, and in the broader Government space. We do this through our integrated processes around strategy, risk, outcomes and KPI’s, business planning, communication, and engaging and managing stakeholder relationships.

The Business Co-ordination, Compliance and Reporting directorate supports the overall delivery of the FRNSW strategic focus and our performance. We do this through our integrated processes around strategy, risk, governance, outcomes and KPI’s, business planning, and the holistic management of all FRNSW property and fleet assets.

The Media, Communication & Engagement directorate leads the communications functions and planning for FRNSW, including the management and co-ordination of media issues, strategies, products, publications, branding and stakeholder engagement.
