  • Office located in Alexandria (minimum 3 days per week in the office). The role is also required to occasionally travel to the office in Newcastle, and attend meetings at Greenacre or other Fire and Rescue NSW locations

About the role:      

As an Admin and Project Officer for Operational Communication, you will provide administrative support to our Strategic Operations Centre (SOC) and you will be one of the first personnel involved in a SOC activation.

You will also be responsible for continual improvement of the SOC and its business process, doctrine and facilities.

You will provide training and mentorship for admin staff working within the SOC.

There are other projects and groups that you will also support, including Inter-agency CAD Electronic Messaging System (ICEMS), ensuring that project tasks are effectively tracked and completed.

Lastly, you will assist internal and external investigations by providing radio and phone recordings arising from emergency events.

About you:

  • You will have demonstrated experience in providing administrative support, including booking travel and accommodation for staff.
  • An awareness and understanding of emergency management arrangements, and how Emergency Service Organisations interact.
  • Flexible to be on-call for the SOC, i.e. if there is a SOC activation, you will be available for weekend work and work extended hours as required.
  • Ability to use technology including large wall displays, and IT systems associated with an Emergency Operations Centre and the ability to provide basic troubleshooting and support to personnel working within the SOC.
  • Willing to accept the risk of being exposed to potentially traumatic experiences when providing recordings from emergency events.
