The duration of the FRNSW Recruit Course is approximately 13 weeks.
Yes. The course is made up of intensive practical and theoretical instruction covering areas such as safety, gaining access, structural firefighting and hazardous material incidents, operational training and rescue. Recruits must attain the required standard for each subject to graduate to a Firefighter.
Candidates will be paid at the Recruit Firefighter level while they are completing the 13-week training course.
Accommodation is not provided during the recruit firefighter training course. Candidates are responsible for securing their own accommodation.
Recruit courses are determined by organisational staffing needs and as a result is subject to change at any time.
